Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty also known as Tummy tuck is a popular procedure to eliminate excess skin in the abdomen following pregnancy or a massive weight loss.

A tummy tuck tightens your abdominal muscles and gives you a flat stomach resulting in better self-esteem as you can fit again all your old dresses.

Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck?

You do not smoke. Smoking slows down the healing process and increases the risk of serious complications during and after surgery. If you smoke, you must quit at least six weeks before surgery.

If you lost weight and you have saggy skin if you’re done having children, and if you are in general good health then you are a good candidate to have a tummy tuck.

However, if you have more intra-abdominal fat then you need to lose some weight before considering a tummy tuck

How is a tummy tuck procedure performed?

After marking the location of the incisions, your surgeon will tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin and reposition your navel giving you that flat stomach you always dreamt of.

The first part of the surgery is muscle repair, it is done by placing sutures in the fascia of your abdominal muscles to pull them into a tighter position.

After suturing your abdominal muscles, your surgeon will eliminate excess fats and stretch down your skin to the first incision line.

Next, your surgeon will mark the placement of your navel. and then reposition it by making a hole in the skin and sutures it around the navel .

finally, your surgeon will insert draining tubes to remove all the liquids, you are asked to keep them for 4-5 days after the operation, they will be removed by your surgeon during you post-op controls.

Full Abdominoplasty / Mini Abdominoplasty

During your consultation, your surgeon will discuss your expectations and decide which approach is best for you.

Full Abdominoplasty

A traditional tummy tuck involves an incision above the pubic wound and an incision around the navel, muscles are tightened and excess skin is removed, liposuction may be used to contour the abdomen.

Mini Abdominoplasty

A single incision is made in the pubic area, Through this incision, your surgeon will remove excess skin, tighten slack muscles and possibly use liposuction to further refine the area.

What will my tummy tuck scars be like?

The incision for a full abdominoplasty usually runs from hipbone to hipbone and may be in a V-cut or U-cut shape, so that the scar can be hidden in a bikini. Your surgeon will determine the shape and length of the incision based on your preferences and the amount of correction you need. You may also have an incision around the navel.
